Dr. Cathy Waterloo

A Passion for Dentistry

I feel very fortunate to practice dentistry, to be available to help people, to establish and nurture relationships, and deliver high-quality, comfortable dental care. I strive to exceed your expectations. I listen to and try to understand your concerns and help make your experience better.

It’s a pleasure to spend my days caring for wonderful people from our community. Each person comes to me with specific oral health needs. Together we address those needs and develop a plan to achieve exceptional dental health and a great smile. I am honored to be chosen as a member of your healthcare team.

Professionally, I am constantly learning. With new technologies and treatment methodologies come increased accuracy, comfort, and stronger, more beautiful results. I am excited to share these with you.

Education and Commitment to Continuing Education

  • Bachelor of Science, Agricultural Sciences, University of Illinois
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery, University of Iowa
  • General Practice Residency, Northwestern University and Evanston Hospital

I admit to being a total geek for technology, and love learning new skills, as well as sharpening those I learned in dental school. Oral healthcare is a constantly evolving field, and my patients depend on me to evaluate new products and approaches and make appropriate recommendations to suit their needs. Through continuing education and investments in my practice, I am able to do so.

The new frontier of 3D imaging is a perfect example. We are now able to create permanent crowns in the office, so it only takes one visit to complete placement of a crown. With digital 2D and 3D conebeam imaging, we’re able to improve diagnoses, as well as provide more accurate placement of implants. I have also completed orthodontic training, so I am able to deliver that life-changing care for children, teens, and adults.

Personal Life

Evanston, IL has been my home for almost 30 years. I grew up in Rock Island, in western Illinois, on the Mississippi River. I have three sons: 21-year-old triplets! They are juniors in college at three different universities. My husband, Tom, the boys, and I live in a two-flat we rehabbed into a single-family home. Our family is rounded out with a small poodle-shih tzu mix, Ella Fitzgerald Waterloo. She’s the queen of our home.

When I’m not at my office, I'm running down to the St. Louis area to spend time with my 85-year-old mom.
